Texas Living 4 U — Plan ahead with Fred

Moving Closer to Children and Grandchildren

Closer is good. Too close, or too far, both have costs worth thinking through.

Decide what 'close' means

Fifteen minutes means school pickups and Sunday dinners. Two hours means holidays and long weekends. Families are usually happiest somewhere in the ten-to-thirty-minute range — near enough to be present, far enough for everyone to keep their own life.

Questions to work through as a family

  • How likely is your child's family to move again for work?
  • Do you want to be in their neighborhood, or in your own community nearby?
  • What kind of home fits: single story, low maintenance, guest space for the grandchildren?
  • What does healthcare access look like in that area?
  • Will you still have your own friends, church and routine?

Fred works with clients moving into the Bay Area and out to other parts of Texas, and maintains a referral network for out-of-state moves. Either way, the sale here and the purchase there need to be coordinated as one plan.

Want to Talk It Through?

You don't need to know where you're moving yet. That's what the first conversation is for.
